The Living Exhibition
The Living Exhibition was an installation of over 1,000 traditional craft pieces made by nearly 60 artisans from Saudi Arabia.
The Living Exhibition at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence, Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter, was the culmination of a project run by the Saudi Handicrafts Programme at the Ministry of Culture and Turquoise Mountain. With the generous sponsorship support of the King Salman Centre for Disability Research, the Radisson Blu honoured nearly 60 Saudi artisans by displaying more than 1,000 pieces of pottery, plasterwork, stone carving and more throughout its public and private guest areas. Also on display were pieces by a small number of artisans from around the world – from the United Kingdom to Afghanistan to India – who had worked with and reinterpreted traditional Saudi patterns and motifs. This landmark exhibition was the largest collection of Saudi handmade crafts in the Kingdom, and the pieces remain in the Radisson Blu to this day.
