We are incredibly proud to celebrate Richard Keith OBE – Turquoise Mountain board member of 17 years, and chairman between 2010 and 2020 – as he is recognised in His Majesty King Charles’ Honours list this year for services to protecting heritage and community overseas.
Having steered the Turquoise Mountain ship since the former Prince of Wales founded our organisation in 2006, Richard has led us to expand our programmes to three new places, where we have trained and employed thousands of artisans and builders, and brought over $17 million worth of traditional crafts to international markets. His guidance and support has played a crucial role in our work to protect heritage and communities at risk around the world.
Richard said: “I’m honoured to have received this award from our Royal Founding Patron, His Majesty.
“Above all, this reflects the fantastic work undertaken by our colleagues, patrons and donors since Rory Stewart first set out on this enterprise and daunting challenge. A huge amount has been achieved since then and Turquoise Mountain continues to grow and provide support to so many and in such different ways."
So, from us – thank you, Richard. This honour is a point of pride for everyone in the Turquoise Mountain family.
