Artisans from Saudi Arabia are experimenting with the woodworking traditions of Najd, creating panels, boxes, trays and other decorative items in tamarisk wood adorned with brass studs and carved decorations. The patterns on these pieces are often based on regional motifs and artisans often use a technique where part of the wood is burned in order to create different depths of colour.
