"Traditional crafts are our identity, our national treasure and pride" Sharif Al Ghamdi, Plaster Artisan

A group of artisans in Jeddah have joined together to form a plaster collective, producing plaster artwork hand-carved with geometric patterns which reference the traditional buildings of the old city. Revisiting this historic medium and reintroducing it as an innovative art form that captures the spirit and craftsmanship of the Hijaz region, the artisans have found great success in the short time since the project’s inception. The group, which includes women from different age groups and backgrounds, now produces for commissions from luxury hotels across the Kingdom.
