The Murad Khani Primary School

The school provides supplementary education to over a hundred students in eight subjects including Peace Education, English, Mathematics, and Dari.

In keeping with the rich craft heritage of Murad Khani, children also learn calligraphy and miniature painting, and take part in community events with shows of traditional songs and dance.

Turquoise Mountain is constructing a new primary school building that will open its doors in 2019. The new building will have four classrooms as well as a gymnasium, two garden spaces, a library and a nursery for smaller children. Built almost entirely using traditional construction techniques and locally-sourced materials, the school will be an example of traditional, beautiful, and sustainable Afghan architecture, with solar panels for electric and water heating provision further improving its environmentally friendly profile.
