Soghra was made an orphan at the age of fifteen, left to care for siblings by herself. Hoping to generate income to support her family, Soghra began studying calligraphy and miniature painting at the Turquoise Mountain Institute. Now in her final year of the three-year programme, Soghra is regarded as one of Afghanistan's most promising young artists. She has received a number of international commissions and has showcased her work at several exhibitions in Kabul and the UK. In 2014 Soghra teamed up with the jeweller Alice Cicolini to create unique collection of hand painted jewellery.
